[My father] exposed me firsthand to the Beatles and Jesus and the failure of communism and Tang Dynasty poetry but never, among other things, the violence and misogyny and inhumanity to woman so often associated with his gender and the institutions (the country, church etc.) it founded. Perhaps, because of this, my feminism comes from a different perspective from yours.
Moe.
In this woman’s long-winded, convoluted, irrevelant-to-the-subject-at-hand posts (say what you will about tumblr being for the lazy, but the ability to express oneself concisely holds a certain value) there are sometimes hidden gems like the one above. Ya’ll, Moe doesn’t think rape is a big deal cause her dad didn’t read her The Feminine Mystique as a bedtime story like the rest of our fathers did.
Also, I hate these lines I’ve been hearing about how ‘there are many feminisms blah blah blah.’ Of course there are. There are also many flavors of Diet Coke and some of them are total bullshit (specifically: lime).

When we say that feminism means “whatever you want it to mean”, we’re saying that feminism is meaningless.
It’s really Third Wave and all to say that feminism is what you make of it, but we have to get beyond that unless we want Moe becoming some sort of feminist spokesperson.

Or, if we want Slut Machine becoming a Feminist Hero. Jesus.
